Let’s Get Connected Day

The 10th annual Let’s Get Connected Day was held on Saturday, May 18, 2013. The 7th peace pole inscribed with the following languages: Braille, Cherokee, English, Malay-Indonesian, Punjabi, Romanian, Scottish and Tibetan was dedicated at the Frank T. Tadlock South Rowan Library. The Covenant Community Connection would like to congratulate the visual arts contest winner,  Nicole Miller, a student at Carson High School.   A special thank you to our participants: South Rowan High School Band, Praise in Motion  Liturgical Dancers, Pastor Edwin Guale, Jason Harwood, The Salisbury Youth Council, Rev. and Mrs. Fleming Otey, Rev. Let’s Get Connected Day

Covenant Community Connection is pleased to announce the theme of the 10th Annual Let’s Get Connected Day will be ‘One Planet. One Human Family. One Community.’ Held on May 18, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Frank B. Tadlock South Rowan Library, the event marks the dedication of the seventh peace pole in Rowan County.    Let’s Get Connected Day invites middleand highschool students in Rowan County to submit art and poetry entries inspired by this year’s theme. Entries should include name and contact information, and may be dropped off at the South Rowan Library or emailed to  get.connected.day@gmail.com by May 6, 2013. Winners will receive a cash prize and be on display at the event.   The public is invited to join Covenant Community Connection on Let’s Get Connected Day for a multicultural prayer circle, dedication of the peace pole, liturgical dance and music, activities, and lunch....

EDK Nominations

Now Accepting Nominations for the Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Award   PURPOSE  The purpose of this award is to recognize a person from the Salisbury/Rowan community who exemplifies the ideals of Libby Koontz and has made an important contribution to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church, or community endeavors.   CRITERIA  The nominee must: 1.  Be a resident of the Salisbury/Rowan community. 2.  Have made a significant contribution to the improvement of human relations in Rowan County, the state of North Carolina, or on a national level. 3.  Have contributed to social betterment in the areas of education, housing, employment, industry, business, government, civic or community relations.   PROCEDURES FOR NOMINATION  1.  Anyone in Rowan County may nominate. 2.  The Awards Committee shall be responsible for placing notice in the Salisbury Post the first week in November to allow for sufficient response in...

To any Mentoring or Grassroots Organizations, please apply to be one of the Recognized Service Organizations for the local Martin Luther King Celebration on Monday, Jan 21st 2013. The Theme for the 2013 Salisbury-Rowan Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Celebration is Community Service. Living Dr. King’s Legacy: How Can You be the “I” in Service? We wish to recognize individuals and groups that have contributed voluntarily to the community, whether in helping meet educational, material, health, emotional, or spiritual needs. We welcome information from any such individuals and grassroots organizations to include your (or your organization’s) name and nature of your community service.
